YOLO: life is short

Recent tragedies have opened the world’s eyes to how quickly life can be taken away. Live life to the fullest while you still can. The acronym YOLO is one to live by. You only live once. Enjoy every aspect of life while you have the luxury to do so. Tell your loved ones you love them and hug them when you say goodbye.

The loss of renowned basketball player Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gigi Bryant shocked the world. Everyone was affected by the terrible accident. The father and daughter, along with seven other people, died in a tragic helicopter crash on Jan. 26. The story was originally reported by TMZ and the world immediately erupted. Condolences for Bryant’s family began to pour onto all social media platforms. No one wanted to believe that their hero, the Black Mamba, was gone too soon. When the public was informed that his 13-year-old daughter also died in the crash, the world mourned. The loss of this public figure has helped the world realize how something so great can be taken away too fast. Kobe, Gigi and the other family were taken from us too young.

A similar situation occurred earlier this year when the world lost the famous rapper JuiceWRLD. It was announced recently that he overdosed on codeine and oxycodone. Several young adults who idolized JuiceWRLD were heartbroken. The young rapper was only 21 when he died. Another celebrity who was taken to soon.

The coronavirus that is spreading throughout China and has cases in the U.S. is sparking panic in the minds of people. There is even a case nearby in Chicago, which is a little too close for comfort. This is a deadly virus that has already taken several lives.

All of these incidents in 2020 are helping the world realize what matters. We cannot take life for granted. It can be taken away in a split second. It is so important to live in the moment because you only live once. Tell your family and friends you love them. Appreciate everything in life because you never know when it could all be taken away.
