Celebrities aiding rescue efforts of Amazon rainforests

Written by Lilly Wright

Around Aug. 15, the Amazon forest fire outbreak had increased and people knew action had to be taken. News teams and meteorologist organizations immediately spread the news, although no one seemed to care at first.

The causes of the fires are unknown but there are suspicions that it was a combination of dry weather, wind and heat. There is also the possibility that the fires were “human-induced”, according to CNN meteorologist Haley Brink.

Many celebrities donated money and resources to forest fire relief efforts. These celebrities include “To All The Boys I Loved Before” actress Lana Condor, Vanessa Hudgens from “High School Musical” and Camila Mendes of “Riverdale” fame. Some other celebrities you may know are Violette Beane, Robert Sheehan, Zoe Deutch, Madeline Petsch and Skylar Astrin. While these aforementioned stars have been very generous, Leonardo Dicaprio surpasses them with his five million dollar gift. This money will go to local groups and indigenous communities as they work to protect the Amazon.
